Over time, quality VR curriculum for core subjects will be created alongside customizable tools for teachers to craft lessons. This library of VR learning resources will be key for full integration into standard K-12 education.


The Future of Universal VR Education


Looking 10 to 15 years out, it is possible to envision entire schools outfitted with classroom sets of VR headsets and rich libraries of VR learning content and software. Based on public investments and strategic partnerships, VR hardware and content costs will drop low enough to make VR a universal learning resource.


Adoption will gain steam as positive research on VR education continues to accumulate. It may take an entire generation raised on VR learning for it to truly become the new normal. Much like personal computers and internet access revolutionized classrooms, the textbook may fade into obsolescence as VR provides a categorically richer educational foundation. The promising applications for VR across nearly every discipline and age range make it highly likely interactive virtual environments will reshape learning.


Of course, physical books will not completely disappear. There is something special about holding a book and flipping through pages that cannot be fully replicated. But as a core learning tool, VR promises quantifiable benefits over ink on paper. We are sure to see traditional textbooks become greatly deemphasized as immersive VR proliferates and takes center stage in classrooms. Educators owe it to students to continually seek out and adopt the most powerful mediums. In 10 to 15 years, VR may very well be the undisputed focal point of modern pedagogy.


Could VR the New Normal for Content Delivery?
